big heartThere are causes and causes. This cause is built around the trust in the Tata Medical Center. A Rs350 crore world class not-for-profit hospital, built by the Tata Group, where 50% of the bed were reserved for the underprivileged. Over 13,000 patients treated. Hundreds more await their turn. There is a dire need for Hospital expansion and collection of funds for Patient care. Hundreds and thousands of Big Hearts have gone out to the cause of underprivileged cancer patients in Eastern and North Eastern India. From actor Shah Rukh Khan to Biocon lady Kiran Mazumdar Shaw. From a government clerk in Kochi sending a cheque for Rs100 to Investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. From thousands who want their names kept anonymous, love continues to pour in as they rally around to support the cause in every possible way.

Uff Yoo Maa!

100 glorious years of Bollywood captured in 100 minutes. An enchanting evening of songs interwoven with dialogues and memories of the past 10 decades, premiered at London’s Taj, 51 Buckingham Gate.

With film posters of the era forming a backdrop, the inimitable Shabana Azmi, Shehenshah of writers, Javed Akhtar and the ever beautiful Waheeda Rehman recalled stories from Indian Cinema.

A 5 foot by 5 foot exquisite painting on Indian Cinema donated by Paresh Maity was auctioned. A specially designed one-of-a-kind pendant, that replicated in film reel, in gold and diamonds was auctioned too, among other Bollywood related memorabilia.

A splendid sit-down Dinner by Michelin Chef Sriram and Chef Vikas Star showMirhoutra with dishes like “Satyam Shivan Saladum” and “Roti Kapda aur Pakaan” was hugely appreciated by the NRI’s of London. They said that though they attended so many charities, Tata Medical Center’s yearly shows had tremendous heart and soul. And they would support this in all time to come!

Dil Sey…Says SRKDil se ray

When Geeta Gopalakrishnan, Director Donor Relationships, Tata Medical Center, met Shah Rukh Khan in Eden Gardens, he was an anxious man. His team, KKR, was playing a crucial IPL match. Yet he drew himself away, was moved by the plight of children suffering from cancer and said…”I know the pain…my parents died of cancer. Anything I can do for you, consider it done.” Thus was born the ICICI – SRK campaign that was released in Kolkata and drew stupendous support from the people of Kolkata.
