Dr Soumendranath Ray obtained a Diploma in Radiation Medicine (DRM) from Radiation Medicine Centre ,Tata Memorial Hospital in 1991 and DNB(Nuclear Medicine) in 1994. Dr Ray was also trained in and remained associated with many reputed institutions like Wisconsin Medical College and Vanderbilt University (USA), Institute of Radiosynoviorthesis & Thyroid (Cologne, Germany), Royal Liverpool Hospital (UK). He has worked in reputed hospitals like Radiation Medicine Centre, Tata Memorial Hospital, (Mumbai), the EKO X-Ray & Imaging Institute (Kolkata) and the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (Mumbai). Dr Ray has many years of teaching experience and was awarded Certificate of Appreciation from International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for post graduate teaching. He has several years of experience in diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine, including PET-CT, SPECT-CT and the treatment of thyroid cancer, hepatocellular cancer, neuroendocrine tumors and pain bone metastasis. He was amongst the first physicians to start radiation synovectomy and SPECT-CT in India.

His special interests are in the field of radioisotope therapies in cancer and in advanced molecular and correlative oncoimaging. He wants to develop optical imaging and preclinical microPET imaging for basic research and drug development for cancer.
