Dr. Geetashree Mukherjee served as Head - Department of Pathology - for 14 years at the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, a tertiary cancer centre in Bengaluru, under the Govt. of Karnataka. She moved to Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, on 1^st December 2014, where she has been heading the department of histopathology. As a histopathologist, her training and tenure has primarily been in the areas of diagnostic pathology & oncopathology respectively, with more than 30 years of experience as an academic consultant in the field. Her special interests are breast, female genital, lung and head and neck cancers. Dr. Mukherjee has also been trained in the basics of molecular biology and techniques and is a UICC Fellow. She has significantly contributed in building the histopathology department at the Kidwai Cancer Centre along with teaching. She has worked at the junction of diagnostics and basic science and actively participated in clinical research. Her recent interest is in the field of tumor immunology, trying to understand the host immune response in oral cancers. She has been instrumental in setting up the digital pathology platform, and infrastructure related to research at the Tata Medical Center.
