Dr Debapriya Kumar (Basu) is the Consultant in the department of Transfusion Medicine at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata. She is from Bishnupur, the Temple town of West Bengal. She completed her schooling from Bishnupur. She entered in MBBS in 2005 at NRS Medical College, Kolkata. After completion of internship in 2011, she did housestaffship in Paediatric Surgery from the same college. In 2013 she entered in MD in Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusion at Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. From 2016 the journey at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata began after completion of her MD degree. The Fellowship in Transfusion Medicine at TMC, Kolkata ended in 2019. During this fellowship period she was involved in the operation every section of the Blood Center. Also she was engaged in academic activities and clinical research. From 2020 to 2021 she was the Consultant Medical Officer at Belur Sramajibi Swasthya Prakalpa Samity Blood Bank, Serampore, Hooghly. In 2021 she came back to TMC, Kolkata as the Clinical Associate in Transfusion Medicine. She is the member of National and International professional bodies of Transfusion Medicine. She has seven publications in National and International journals. She won the award for best oral paper in the 1st National Conference on Hemovigilance.
Dr Kumar has special interest in red cell serology, platelet serology, blood group genotyping and apheresis.
