Dr Sudeep Banerjee completed his MBBS from Medical College, Kolkata in 1998. He qualified as MS in Surgery at the Post-graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh in 2004. After MS, he worked at PGIMER as senior registrar in GI surgery for two years. In 2006, Dr. Banerjee topped the superspecialty entrance examination conducted by Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore and pursued training in GI and Hepatic-Pancreatic-Biliary (HPB) surgery at CMC Vellore till 2009. He was awarded a DNB degree in Gastrointestinal Surgery by the National Board in 2010. He has had an excellent academic career spanning eight years of surgical practice. Dr. Banerjee has been a visiting fellow to the department of HPB and Liver transplantation at Asan Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea. He also has been a visiting fellow to the department of Pancreas-Biliary and related cancer at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, USA and worked under Prof. Charles Yeo, a famous pancreatic surgeon. He is an Indo-American Cancer Association (IACA) fellow.
At Tata Medical Center, the GI team performed the first laparoscopic major liver resection in eastern India. His special interests are surgery of the liver, pancreas and biliary system.
