Dr. Basumita Chakraborti completed her basic medical qualification and MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from JIPMER (Pondicherry University), thereafter DNB in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2002. Her safe work ethics and fantastic patient care is the key to her practice which has evolved over years of experience in good hospitals in India and United Kingdom. Dr Chakraborti got trained in the United Kingdom between 2004 and 2007 in hospitals including University Hospitals of Leicester, City Hospital Birmingham, Erne Hospital Enniskillen, and Stoke Mandeville Hospital Aylesbury. She completed her Fellowship in Gynaecological Oncology from Tata Medical Centre (TMC), Kolkata.
  She is working as Consultant at the Department of Gynaecological Oncology at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, since August 2013.
  She received the prestigious ESGO (European Society of Gynaecological Oncology) Travel Fellowship in 2018 which took her to Royal London Hospital & Barts Cancer Center and Research Institute (London), Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Trust (Newcastle and Gateshead, UK) and Institute Bergonie (France) for advanced training in Gynaecological Oncology. Dr Chakraborti completed the Certificate of completion of Fellowship in Gynaecological oncology-Comprehensive Applied Science and Online Training, UKSH, Germany in 2020.  
  Dr Basumita has successfully treated many patients with advanced ovarian cancer, endometrial, cervical and vulval cancers. She specialises both in open cytoreductive as well as laparoscopic cancer surgery. Her research interest includes development of an algorithm for prediction of progression free survival in ovarian and endometrial cancers. She continues to be a protagonist of hereditary gynaecological cancer prevention.
