style=\"text-align: justify;\">Conceptualised in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North-Eastern parts of India and the neighbouring countries, the Tata Medical Center (TMC) started operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The hospital is governed by a charitable trust \u2013 Tata Medical Center Trust, established in the year 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Phase 2 of the hospital was made functional from 14<sup>th<\/sup> February 2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The hospital was designed by Cannon Design, a renowned architectural firm from North America. It is located on 13 acres of land at New Town in Kolkata, West Bengal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The hospital is an integrated Oncology facility with well-trained professional staff and equipped with modern facilities and contemporary medical equipment. The Hospital, with a capacity of 431 beds, serves all sections of the society, with around 75% of the beds are for General category patients , to extend treatment at Cost Rate, for the underprivileged sections. It provides a wide spectrum of services from complete diagnosis to multimodality therapy, from prehabilitation to rehabilitation and Psycho oncological support to palliative care. The Institution\u2019s objective is to excel in cancer care , patient service, education and research.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The main hospital campus is one of the three institutions established for management of cancer, the other two being <strong><em>Premashraya<\/em><\/strong> (an accommodation facility for outstation patients &amp; their relatives) and the <strong><em>Tata<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>Translational Cancer Research Center (TTCRC<\/em><\/strong>). While TTCRC is located within the main campus of the hospital, Premashraya is located within 1 km distance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Diagnosis and treatment are characterised by a multi-disciplinary approach with disease management teams, wherein experts from different streams, viz., Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Pathology, Radiology, and other clinical and support groups participate in decision-making for treatment protocols, using evidence-based medicine strategies and documented clinical guidelines appropriate to our location.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The above facilities are complemented by state-of-the-art equipment from the best of manufacturers worldwide, and supported by advanced technologies like Digital and Molecular Imaging, Molecular Pathology, Robotic Surgery and the latest Radiation treatment delivery systems.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The treatment teams are complemented by support services including Medical Social Workers, Rehabilitation Services (Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy), Stoma Care, Dental and Prosthodontics. They are supported by NGOs and other voluntary organizations whose services include counselling, financial aid and patient navigation.
