Choosing Treatments Wisely – Two-Day Summit for Early Career Oncologists
(19th/20th October, 2019)

On behalf of the International Scientific Committee, ecancer and the local organizing committee, we would like to invite you to participate in this superb summit designed to support the continued medical education of early career oncologists. The meeting is being held at the Tata Medical Center on the 19th/20th October 2019.

The meeting has been organised by the Tata Medical Center and ecancer, a UK charity providing free/low cost education to the oncology community, to support better outcomes for cancer patients and will be supported by faculty from King’s College, London.

Who is this meeting for?

We invite early career oncologists from across India, as well as post graduate trainees in surgical, gynaecological, ENT, medical and radiotherapy trainees and other doctors involved in the first line treatment of cancer. Doctors who are considering a career in oncology may benefit by attending the meeting in order to get a glimpse of the speciality.

Programme

Our goal is to extend the knowledge of prevention, screening, diagnostics, palliation and therapeutics topics in the five most commonly diagnosed malignancies (breast, gynaecological, lung, head and neck and gastric cancer).  The full programme is available to view here and you can see a full list of speakers here.

Main programme: The main programme will include plenary talks by world renowned experts from India, UK and USA.

There will be 5 specific sessions dedicated to

  1. Breast cancer
  2. Gynaecological cancers
  3. Lung cancer
  4. Head and neck cancers
  5. Cancers of the GI tract

Tumour boards:

In parallel with the main session in the auditorium, meeting will have five disease specific tumour boards led by the specialist teams at Tata Medical Center in a seminar hall next door.

Registration

Pre-registration is mandatory. Registration fee is INR 500.

Bursaries to Support Attendance

Bursaries of INR 10,000 each are available to support the travel and accommodation costs of delegates attending from outside the Kolkata Metropolitan Area. Please see the bursaries application page for details on how to apply and full terms and conditions.

Abstract Submission:

Abstracts for poster submission are welcome. Please email us your abstract to kolkataoncology@gmail.com

Abstract Submission guidelines: Please submit the abstract written within 250 words in the following sections: Background, Aims and Objectives, Methods, Results and conclusion. There will be awards for the best five abstracts as judged by the organisers.
